De-Escalation courses for teaching staff

Confident teachers who feel empowered to effectively manage challenging classroom situations

Delivered online or in person, our verbal resolution courses give teaching staff a validated toolkit to de-escalate conflict peacefully and calmly, protecting both their own and their students' emotional and physical well-being.

By the end of this course, participants will:

  • Understand the external causes of student hostility including socio-economic factors, emotional well-being, and life at home.

  • Know the early warning signs that a student may go on to exhibit challenging behaviours or create classroom conflict.

  • Become familiar with the six stages of conflict and understand what to expect and how to respond at each stage for early and safe resolution.

  • Recognise and prepare for how they may feel at each stage of conflict and how different feelings and emotions can help or hinder resolution.

  • Be able to deploy late intervention resolution options.

  • Feel better able to repair relationships post-conflict.

  • Know how to create an empathic culture within the classroom as a path to very early intervention.

  • Gain insight into enhancing their well-being in and outside of the workplace to help teaching staff thrive within the demands of their role.
